5 minute patch job!

I don't have a little girl, but my beautiful friend has three!  I can't wait for summer when I have more time to craft some amazing little girl stuff for them!  Anyway...she brought over a pair of leggings for me to patch up and I was super excited to put my new webbing to use!  It took about five minutes from start to finish to put these cute little patches on the leggings!  The zigzag stitching is pure decoration.  I am in love with how simple and quick this project was:
1. trace pattern.
2. cut webbing.
3. place webbing on fabric and cut to shape.
4. iron on pants (You can stop at this point)
5. Zigzag stitch for extra cuteness :)

Give it a try!

Spring Break fun

Waiting for the light rail.
Catching bubbles.
Spring break was WONderful!  Time to craft, sleep, play with Alec, and just be with God without the distractions of work life!  I took Alec to the Children's discovery museum with Heather and the girls...Alec loved it.  He kept talking about taking the train :)

Easter Sunday was beautiful and Alec had a successful hunt.  I am so thankful for our God and the love of Christ.  Romans 1:4-5 (NLT) says, "And he was shown to be the Son of God when he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit.  He is Jesus Christ our Lord.  Through Christ, God has given us the grace and authority as apostles to tell Gentiles everywhere what God has done for them, so that they will believe and obey him, bringing glory to his name."  Praise God for his overwhelming love and sacrifice.

I was able to craft a bit.  Wall art fun:  The one on the left is done, but the one on the right still  needs some work.  It cost me about $6 in supplies to make each one!

Break is over...let's begin the countdown to summer!  Only six short weeks left!

What I've been up to...

Sewing, baking, living, and loving.  I spent three hours at the fabric store last Sunday and I felt like a kid in a candy store.  I finished my shirred spring dress that had been put off for the past month...or maybe two months.  I made a super cute apron (reminding me that patters are meant to be followed), and baked some delicious french bread!  I gave blueberry bagels a second try and they came out so much better that the first try! Pictures of all these things below.
Add aprons and dresses to the list of fundraiser items!  Let me know what you think!

Much better second try :)

Awkward position photo credit...crazy but amazing teenagers (Ansley and Justin)

Apron!
My favorite part is the bow on the pocket.

Love the fabric.

The dress!  Love it!

Grandma taught me how to sew...

I have precious memories of sitting at my grandma's yellow glitter laminate 70's kitchen table watching her sew as the country music radio station played in the background.  She would be sewing away and I would just soak it all in.  It wasn't long before she was having me sew things of my own.  In fact, my barbie doll was the first to receive one of my sewing creation :).  I am filled with such nostalgia when thinking back on those summers at grandma's.  It wasn't until just the other day that I realized how much of her sewing ritual is reflected in me today.  Country music was playing in the background, Alec was playing with his army men through the scraps of fabric at my feet, and the rhythmic humming of the sewing machine was pulsing through the room.  Though my table is not retro yellow with silver glitter flakes throughout and my country music was playing on the computer rather than the old record player or stereo, much of my sewing ritual is the same.  It is in this way that I was taught how to sew, and in this way that I continue to do so.  I will always hold fast to the memories of my grandma's sewing, to the gentleness of her soft hands, to the love shown through all the small things.
